Our Association
The purpose of the association is to provide meaning,
dignity, and independence to our members through education and information
sessions, and to promote friendship and fun in a social environment.
The Niagara Amputee Association provides
a visitation and support program for amputees, their family members, and
friends. We have trained people in our group to visit with new amputees
either in hospital or their home. We can answer questions and provide
the needed support and encouragement they may need at that time. If you
or somebody you know is facing an amputation and would like a visit from
an association please call 905-984-0267. Amputees, spouses, family members,
friends and persons who are interested in the goals and aims of the association
are all welcome to join.
Our Mandate
The Niagara Amputee Association exists:
- To promote the quality care, dignity, independence and reintegration of amputees
- To distribute information to the general public and to amputees and their families in order to educate them to:
- the needs of amputees, their families, friends and associates,
- the availability of medical, social, emotional, financial and legal resources which would meet their needs,
- to accept donations, gifts, legacies and bequests,
- to cooperate with other organizations whether incorporated or not which have objects similar to those of The Niagara Amputee Association.
For All Facing a New Life...
"Misfortune can force you into doing things you should be doing anyway. Lessons come from adversity. Anything can happen to anyone... You can find a new lease on life - more meaning than you thought possible in simple things... Let go. Live in the moment. Go forward."
Christopher Reeve
